Social Visits

Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley is a non-profit organization of dedicated volunteers and their pets who perform animal assisted activities with patients in nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, schools, social service agencies, special-needs programs, acute care facilities, and other healthcare facilities throughout the Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota area.

Our volunteers share a common desire to spread joy and happiness to those who are in difficult situations by visiting them with our pets. We serve people of all ages with physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs by sharing the unconditional love of our pets.

Pets have a very special way of demonstrating unconditional love. Pets do not care what you look like, whether you had a bad day or a good one, or whether you have physical or emotional pains. They love you just the way you are all the time. This is what people who are in long-term care facilities or recovering in rehabilitation hospitals need most of all - to be loved just the way they are!

All animals are tested for temperament and meet stringent health requirements. Dogs in the program must hold a minimum of a Basic Obedience Training certificate. Regular volunteer team visits can be arranged on weekdays, weeknights or weekends, seven days a week. Our volunteers also provide special visits upon request, based upon availability. There is no charge to receive the services our volunteers provide.
